What should I wear to a fancy gala--I need to know about shoes, hair, and jewelry. I have a long black dress.?
The dress is Black stretch satin and has a V-neck. The dress is floor length and is form fitting to about mid thigh then hangs to the floor. It is a very fancy gala. There will be opera, ballroom dancing, etc.
The dress sounds very nice. For formal, make sure you wear nice/dressy shoes (pumps rather than wedges or sandals, for example), in black to go with the black dress. Also, make sure they're not so high that you can't dance in them. Hair up with long narrow (dangle) earrings would be very dressy -- just remember that "less is more" so you don't want to go with big hair and big earrings and lots of makeup. It's better to focus on one area with jewelry (earrings OR necklace, but not big with both) and one area with makeup (smoky eyes and neutral lips or neutral eyes and brighter lips). Then take a long look in the mirror and make sure everything looks right -- and then hold your head high and have a wonderful time!
