Set Large

SPSS help! how do I extract a % of scores from a large data set?
I have a very large data set of over 900 participants, and I need to find 20% of those participants who scored lowest. I want to compare that 20% population to other variables. Any ideas on how to do this in SPSS? thanks so much!
Go to "DATA"
Then go to "SORT CASES"
Then choose the column which reports your total score and click the arrow button so it appears in the blank window.
Pick "ascending".
Then highlight the first 180 cases. You might want to then save that as a separate data set (i.e., the 20% of participants who scored the lowest) so you can run your other comps.
Good luck!
