Why would someone in shirt and tie be knocking on my door at 7pm on Sat night?

Some man in shirt and tie knocked on my door and it is Saturday night. I just moved into a new home and find this very odd. In the age we live in I never answer the door if I do not know the person. He went down a few houses and then went walking right back up the street. My thinking is leave me alone if I do not know you. Do you think the same way?

I don't care if he was in a tuxedo, top hat and tails, you never, ever, ever, repeat, never open your door to anyone you do not know. If he comes back call the police. That is how criminals find out if anyone is home...be careful.
