Japanese Kimono

japanese Kimono (more then one question)?
i been wondering this, i checked wikipedia but, im still not sure, i was wondering
Can anyone these days (not japanese) wear a Kimono?
Why are the so much money?
How are they Traditional
If you wear a kimono in japan and your not japanese, will they make faces, or even make fun of you?
I'm sorry for all of the questions, i did research but, i wasn't sure, i wanted to make sure. sorry i didn't want to make allot of questions so i put them all into one.
Kimonos are found everywhere nowadays...obviously not the elaborately traditional dresses of Japanese lore, but the basicv concept of the Kimono dress can be found in various places, and in various styles. Anywhere accented in Asian culture, you can find anyone dressed in Asian style, this includes the Kimono. So yes, most everyone can wear one.
A lot of why they cost so much is because more often than not, they are hand-emboridered and made, often out of silk or some other treasured cloth. The fact that they are imported from overseas often accounts for their expensive worth here in America. A lot of time goes into the making of these dresses and the Japanese take a lot of pride in their products, especially the traditional ones.
Which leads me to your next question; Kimono dresses are traditional because they've been worn by the Japanese and Okinawans since the times of Warlords, Shoguns and Samurai warriors. Don't quote me on it but the Kimono dress itself may strech back as far as before the birth of Christ...either them or a similar dress. This is why this dress is considered "traditional." Another reason is because, unlike many years ago, the Kimono is not casually worn in Japan anymore, except on special dress occasions, thus making it "traditional."
Depending on the setting and occasion, if you're a visitor to Japan and happen to don a Kimono (if the occasion calls for it, and there are Japanese people in their Kimonos) you will likely be considered a great guest. Japanese people share their culture very well, and you'd be surprised how much they like when other cultures endulge in theirs. If the suit fits, wear it. The Japanese will think highly of you.
It's not Wikipedia, but I hope it helped.
