Tailoring men's shirts for a small girl. ADVICE NEEDED FROM U FASHIONISTAS! <3?

So... I'm sure many people here have been to see a concert or band and gotten one of those huge Band T-shirts that fit like a gown (even tho it's labled small) >=(
Usually I turn them into part of my sleepwear, but sometimes I want to wear them out, same goes with leftover boy shirts, some are really cool but still big on a girl. how can you tailor them to fit into a regular outfit. OR how can you incorporate it into an outfit without looking to grunge.

It is possible to make them smaller but taking in the side seams of the shirts and adding some darts at the front and back to give it more shape. It is also possible to shorten the shoulder points if they hang over really far but obviously this will affect the sleeve length.
When taking in a shirt if there is a design on it you had better make sure taking it in will not ruin the design.
With t-shirts, many of them dont have side seams so it will not be possible to take them in. You can shorten them though.

Incorporating large t-shirts and shirts into an outfit is easy. Put on a pair of over-the-knee socks and team with a pair of converse or a nice pair of heels. You could add a floppy sun hat also for a bit of drama and a long necklace. Either that or footless tights and a pair of FLAT shoes. The possibilities are endless!

Also if you find the t-shirts/shirt is a bit short and there is a risk of bum-showing, cut off denim shorts are pretty trendy at the moment. That will look good and save embarrassment.
